As Head of Data - Analytics Engineering & Insights, you’ll lead the teams turning raw data into trusted, timely, and actionable intelligence. You’ll shape how we model, surface, and scale insights across the organisation and to our partners.
This role blends deep technical leadership with a strong understanding of how data powers decision-making. You’ll be hands-on when needed, champion modern analytics practices, and help lay the foundations for AI-powered self-serve.

What you’ll be doing
• Lead and grow a multidisciplinary team spanning analytics engineering, business intelligence, and insight analysis.
• Design and scale a robust semantic layer and data models to support high-trust, high-performance analytics across the business.
• Drive the strategy for self-serve analytics at scale, making it easy for non-technical teams to access reliable, meaningful insights.
• Collaborate with the Data Management team on lineage, documentation, compliance, and governance ensuring enterprise-grade data quality.
• Support our AI and Data Science teams with well-modelled, reproducible datasets that power experimentation and machine learning.
• Build strong relationships across the Growth, Commercial, and Customer functions turning complex data into clear, business-ready intelligence.
• Champion engineering excellence: testing, versioning, documentation, and observability across the analytics stack.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce duplication in analytics workflows, tooling, and data pipelines.

What we’re looking for
Must Have
• Proven leadership in analytics engineering, BI, or data insights — with experience delivering scalable, trusted reporting and modelling layers.
• Deep hands-on experience with SQL, modern data transformation tools (e.g. dbt), and BI platforms (e.g. Looker, Power BI, Tableau).
• Strong understanding of cloud-native data architecture (any major cloud — GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Demonstrated experience building and supporting self-serve analytics at scale — including KPIs, metric standardisation, and stakeholder enablement.
• A collaborative and pragmatic mindset — able to dive into the detail, while still influencing strategically.
• A commitment to building inclusive, high-performing teams with strong coaching and mentoring.
Nice to Have
• Experience working in regulated or data-sensitive sectors such as financial services or insurance.
• Exposure to or interest in applying AI/ML to analytics and self-serve — including automated insight generation or conversational analytics.
• Familiarity with experimentation design and product analytics at scale.
• Experience driving cultural change around data literacy or federated analytics.

Why Join Us?
You’ll lead talented teams working on meaningful AI problems, backed by strong foundations in data and infrastructure. We’ll give you autonomy to shape how we deliver, space to coach others, and the opportunity to influence how AI scales at Compare the Market.

Everyone Is Welcome
We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive Data Science team where everyone feels they belong. If this role excites you but you don’t meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We care about what you can do—not just where you’ve been.
