Our purpose is to make great financial decision making a breeze for everyone, and that purpose drives us every day.
It’s why we’re on a mission to create an automated quoting engine, with the simplest of experiences, wrapped in a brand everyone loves!
We change lives by making it simple to switch and save money and that’s why good things happen when you meerkat.
We’d love you to be part of our journey!
At Compare the Market, we’re building a world-class Data & AI capability to help people make smarter, faster financial decisions. As a Senior Data Scientist, you’ll play a leading role in developing applied AI solutions that have real impact -from intelligent personalisation to optimised customer journeys.
You won’t just be building models - you’ll shape how we deploy and govern them, working across engineering, product, and analytics to ensure our systems are reliable, scalable, and fair. This is a hands-on, high-influence role at the forefront of our AI strategy.
Everyone is welcome!
We have a culture of creativity. We approach our work passionately, improve constantly and celebrate our wins at every turn. We are an inclusive workplace and our employees are comfortable bringing their authentic, whole selves to work. Everyone is welcome. Be you.
This means we’re excited to hear from people with a range of skills, experiences and ideas. We don’t expect you to tick all the boxes, but would love to hear what makes you great for this role.
Some of the great things you’ll do:
AI Solution Delivery
• Lead the end-to-end development of machine learning solutions—from exploration to deployment and monitoring.
• Build and iterate on predictive models using Python and SQL, ensuring they are robust, ethical, and customer-focused.
• Translate complex business problems into structured AI solutions aligned to strategic goals.
Applied Science & Experimentation
• Design and interpret experiments and A/B tests with scientific rigor.
• Drive insight through statistical analysis and feature engineering, continuously improving model performance and business impact.
Platform & Governance
• Contribute to our ML platform by defining standards for deployment, observability, and responsible AI practices.
• Champion best practices in reproducibility, testing, documentation, and model evaluation.
Team & Culture
• Mentor and support other data scientists, helping to build a high-performing, collaborative team.
• Promote a culture of curiosity, learning, and technical excellence; this may include line management of junior team members.
What we’d like to see from you:
• Proven experience delivering data science or ML solutions with measurable business impact.
• Strong Python and SQL skills; hands-on experience with modelling techniques, feature engineering, and statistical analysis.
• Good understanding of the ML lifecycle, with experience collaborating on deployment and monitoring with engineering or MLOps teams.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills—able to turn data into compelling insights and actions.
• A track record of mentoring peers and upholding high technical standards.
• A background in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering) or equivalent hands-on experience applying machine learning in real-world environments
Nice to have:
• Experience working in regulated domains such as insurance or financial services.
• Exposure to MLOps tools (e.g. MLflow, model registries, A/B testing platforms).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data or ML workflows.
• Interest in or experience with generative AI (e.g. OpenAI, Gemini, Claude) and prompt engineering.
• Passion for responsible AI and influencing standards around fairness, ethics, and model governance.
There’s something for everyone.
We’re a place of opportunity. You’ll have the tools and autonomy to drive your own career, supported by a team of amazingly talented people.
And then there’s our benefits. For us, it’s not just about a competitive salary and hybrid working, we care about what matters to you. From a generous holiday allowance and private healthcare to an electric car scheme and paid development, wellbeing and CSR days, we’ve pretty much got you covered!
